    Create customized Responsive HTML5 layouts without a single line of code

    In this session, Beth Gerber from Lightext, Inc., a training and technical writing consulting firm, will demonstrate how to easily and expertly customize a Responsive HTML 5 screen layout using the New Layout Customization Editor in RoboHelp. Learn how utilize one of the three generic layouts provided in RoboHelp and within minutes tailor it to your organization’s unique branding. In this demo, Beth will modify a help system’s home page, topic navigation and sidebar (index, glossary, contents, favorites, search and filters). Finally, she will show you how to import a layout into your project and then demonstrate key features of your newly created layout.

There is a lot to think about, so we'll explore a workflow that touches on every aspect of migration from Word or FrameMaker to structure XML content.     One of the biggest challenges for an author is to help the reader find the most relevant content. Users can be overwhelmed as they wade through huge knowledge bases and often give up looking out of frustration. Now authors can direct readers to the right content with filters for categories such as roles, location, etc. While some faceted navigation principles are universal, John will use the Dynamic Content Filtering techniques unique to Adobe RoboHelp (2017 Release) to demonstrate these tips.

    In this session you'll learn how to:

    » Let your end users “self-select” the content they want to locate

    » Create content categories (such as Roles, Locations, Product Segments, etc.)

John Daigle is president of Evergreen Online Learning, LLC, based in Evergreen, Colorado. John is a certified instructor and consultant for Adobe RoboHelp and Adobe Captivate. He has taught RoboHelp since 1992 and Adobe Captivate since it was introduced. His speaking engagements include many STC Summits and WritersUA/UX coast to coast.

John is a member of the Society for Technical Communication (Rocky Mountain Chapter) and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Houston. He began his career in broadcast news as a reporter for the NBC television affiliate in Houston, Texas.

He is also a member of the Adjunct Faculty of Metro State University of Denver where he teaches RoboHelp and Captivate for college credit toward a four year degree in Technical Communications.
